Picking good runing shoes?
What are some good, somewhat inexpensive running shoes? What brands and types do you reccomend? I run sprints, so I probably won't be going long distances with them; but I will be needing them for this upcoming track season.
Answers:
Best Shoes: STABILITY shoes with moderate control features.
Look for: A semi or slightly curved last; a one to two-thirds length medial post; a firm heel counter; a stable midsection that doesn't twist.
This has a low arch and leaves a print that looks like the whole sole of the foot. It usually indicates an overpronated foot - one that strikes on the outside of the heel and rolls inwards (pronates) excessively. Over time, this can cause many different types of overuse injuries.
Best Shoes: MOTION CONTROL shoes with relatively firm midsole and control features that reduce the degree of pronation. Stay away from highly cushioned, highly curved shoes, which lack stability features.
Look for: A straight last; a long medial post, perhaps with extra plastic medial support features; a tough midfoot shank; a solid heel counter; a very supportive upper.
This leaves a print showing a very narrow band or no band at all between the forefoot and the heel. A curved, highly arched foot is generally rolled outwards (supinated). Because it doesn't roll inwards (pronate) enough, it's not usually an effective shock absorber.
Best Shoes: CUSHIONED shoes with plenty of flexibility to encourage foot motion. Stay away from motion control or stability shoes, which reduce foot mobility. If you're light and quick, you could potentially consider a performance training shoe as an everyday option.
Look for: A curved last; no medial post; a soft midsole; forefoot flex grooves.
I need to know how to do a wall spin.?
ooh how exciting. :] i run sprints too, for my high school track team.i'd recommend adidas, asics, or saucony. it all depends on which shoes you feel most comfortable in. make sure there's sufficient arch support. running shoes don't really matter for long distance or short.
it's the spikes that will, when you choose those. and if that's what you meant, then the shoe that you buy should be relatively sleek and tight-fitting, without much of a heel.
Why did I get leg cramps in my calves while running today?
I run distance in high school but I can give you at least one important piece of relevant advice. That is that every person has different requirements for a shoe. It is REALLY important that when you go to pick out a shoe, you try a bunch of different kinds. Even ask to go run around the block- most stores will let you. You can really mess up your feet and your whole body with the wrong pair of shoes- at least when you're running distance.
There is some hope for your wallet though. What a lot of times works is finding a shoe that works for you in the store and then telling the salesperson that you'll consider it. Then go home and find the shoe online. Usually you can save a bunch of money on running shoes if you scour the internet for long enough. Order it online, get the right shoe, and save money.
Best of luck! GO TRACK!
Is it possible to to bring my mile from 4:55 to 4:40 in the next two months?
Running shoes are like motorcycle helmets. You have an Arai head, or a Schoei head. Or if you don't have the money, you have an HJC head, even if you don't really. Adidas shoes hurt my feet. Asics were cheaper, and they felt alot better, even if they were heavier and less ventilated. But when I got my first pair of New Balance... Let's just say I run in all nike gear, from the shirts, under shirt, pants/shorts, socks, and even underwear, but they match my NB's on my feet. I still want to try the Nike shocks though. Since I wear Nike for basketball. Is it recommented to eat anything before a 4.5k fast run or drink anything?
Shoes are an individual-thing. Choose the right shoe for you based on fit...and of course price. I like the Nike Air Pegasus for the money...but I have a nuetral / narrow foot and run longer distances. You may want to look into a running flat or spike for the shorter sprints. Try a running speciality store for ideas and advice...they can really be very helpful as they are usually staffed with avid runners. Good luck this season!More Questions & Answers...
