What are the best strength exercises for a high school track star?
It is good you are thinking about your diet, but most high school athletes have terrible diets and get by on pure athletic ability alone. Unless the food is causing you to gain excess weight or interferes with your workouts, I don't think you really need to worry about diet. Water is preferable to soda, but soda is fine as long as it doesn't hurt your workout. I am assuming you are a sprinter. Distance runners may need to be a little more strict. What is the best way to avoid blisters when running a 26.2 miles?
I'm not going t give you a detailed schedule, (sorry), but I can tell you that soda is a absolute NO. I haven't drank soda even once since last fall. It's really bad. Try to cut out as much sugar as possible. Eat whole wheat bread, and my favorite, oatmeal. eat oatmeal.Soda is a definite no for any sport. It makes you a heck of a lot slower. Just eat healthy food (minimal or no fast foods), make sure you get all your fruits and vegetables, drink as much water as you can. There isn't a really specific "diet" for track. Just make sure that you eat anything pasta the night before a meet and eat a big breakfast the day of so you don't use all the carbs from the night before to stay awake. Another thing that helps me is snacking all day and eating smaller portions at my 3 main meals. You'll feel like you're eating way too much at first but it'll become a habit and it keeps your energy up all day for practice and meets.
