What is an acceptable time for the 3 and 1 mile in highschool?

Hey. I'm 15 and I just started running. I plan on trying out for cross-country and track next year. I want to know what time I should have, because I really don't want to come in last. ~~I also have a side question: It seems to me that running on a treadmill is easier than running on the road. Is it, or am I just imagining it?

I absolutely HATE track practice! Any advice on what could make me like it more?

It depends on what you mean by acceptable. Running is an individual sport where you try to beat your own goals so whatever you do will be helpful to the team. What is fast for one person is not always fast for someone else. If you can run 6 minute miles you will win a lot. 7 minute miles you will be doing pretty good. 8 minutes miles will be average. 9 minute miles will be towards the back but still good.

Treadmills are easy for pacing when your not used to running distance. The treadmill forces you to run a certain pace which can be helpful. I personally find treadmills boring after 2 or 3 miles so I try to avoid them.

If you want to get better find a faster runner to run with. Training with them will make you better!

Ohhh man i'm in MAJOR trpuble with my track meet tomorrow !! HELP!?

Dude,
Run when you feel you are ready- I am 12, and I have ran a half 3/4, and fulll marathon.
Thanks!

If i am Training For Half - Marathon ... Must i run 2 time per day to improve .. of Course got rest 1 to 2 dy?

In grade 9 we had to run 1 mile for gym, I did it in 5m 53s. The key is to pace urself, and concentrate on ur breathing. Some people may sprint past u, but they will tire quickly and u will be passing them. The last 1/2 to 1/4 lap (assuming its on a rounded track), u must sprint, and sprint hard! Get ur mom or dad to drive u exactly 1 mile from ur house, then time urself on ur run home. Practice daily and u'll be fine. Oh, and dont forget to stretch, if u dont, u will pull and rip muscles...it hurts! Good luck! =)

What are some tips on high jumping?

hey wen i was 15(im 16 now) i was REALLY good so if u dont hit these times dont be down or dissappointede but i can tell u an AVERAGE time in the 3 mile would be around 18 to 19 minutes. I ran mine in a high 16 or low 17. in the mile an AVERAGE time would be about a 4:50 or 4:45.
I ran mine in a 4:38 EARLY in the season and stopped running it but i probably would have reaches a 4:30

Is 15 too young to take prenatal vitamins to make your hair grow?

Time compared to others doesn't matter that much in track and xc, it is more about self-improvement. With that in mind, it doesn't particularly matter what you first run as long as you improve. As a freshman I started in the mid to high 19 minute range but as a junior I am down to 17.

Has any one run disney marathon (2007)?

you like running on a tredmill!! i would so much rather run outside. tredmill is soooooooo boring! but i heard for the 1 mile at least a boy your age would be okay to run it in about 7-9 minutes. good luck.
