Is it pretty normal to be sore after a 3 mile run for the first time in over a year? i am a 33 year old male?
Question:in decent shape, i walk an hour a day to and from work.
however, i haven't gone for a run in a long time.
the other day, i went for a 3 mile run and my body is pretty achy today, especially in my legs and back. i decided to wait another day or two to run again. if i were to start getting on a regular running schedule (3 miles 5 days a week), how long would it take for my body to stop aching after runs.
i weigh about 200 lbs and am 5'10" and bench press 250 pounds, so my body type is on the line of muscular and stocky, with a small beer gut (36 waist). i would like to use the running to try and drop 30 pounds. how long will it take for my body to stop getting sore after these runs? thanks for any help with this.

What's the best way to run the mile?
Lactic acid wouldn't stick around for 3-5 days... also they don't think lactic acid is anywhere near as bad for your muscles as coaches of old used to.Its just your muscles being used in ways they're not used to, they have to break down and redevelop, also using any muscles can cause micro tears in them, this is more so when the muscles aren't used to being used, which is quite harlmless in the long run. Stretching after the run would prevent aching though.
Don't go straight to a 5 day a week schedule, do every other day for a couple of weeks first, to get your muscles used to it, and to recover in between. You shouldn't be aching after runs for too long a couple of weeks maybe, and then when you increase intensity you'll ache slightly. You're going to ache slightly whenever you start some new excercise, don't worry about it.
Your legs and back will be the muscles you are using that your not used to, your legs to propel you, and your back from holding you upright.
If you feel weakness and/or proper pain in the muscles though then thats not normal and you should be more careful. But just ignore aches and train on!
It is normal to be sore anytime you do something new. If you have not been training then anything will make you sore, and if you are changing your exercise program the new event will make you sore until you are conditioned to that event.
When's the best time of day to run?
you have waht is know as a LACTIC ACID BUILDUP! you will be sore for a few days but once you establish a routine of running, this will pass! trust me, i was a log distance runner and when i first started, i was extremely sore for 3 days or so! i say that in 3-5 days the soreness will be reduced! and go away! when it does, it means that youare in better shape! i ran the mile in 4:10 as senior in high school after the lactic acid went away! that was 4th best in state, so i know about running! What is a website that tells you how long you run?

yes im 22yrs old 5 foot 5 inches 125lbs and i was sore when i ran 2 miles when i hadnt ran in a year. its normalI'm looking for ideas for coaching track and field. I'd like it to be enjoyable, but still...?
yes its normal to be sore b/c ur body hasnt work like that for a while and its going to hurt until your body get used to itIt will probably take about 1.5 months as even though you walk your muscle are used to it and so have developed long distance walking muscle rather than running muscles.
There is a bigg gap in the degree of muscle efficiency required.
Your lower abdomen and shoulders should be aching because when walking they arent stressed that much. After a month or so of running say 1 or 2 a week your muscles should be adapted enough to go for longer periods without aching.
I myself used to walk 2 hours a day for about 6 months and up some very steep hills but i wasnt ready for jogging never mind running. It took me a about 2 months to get adjusted.
No it isn't normal. You should feel perfectly normal. Why would you think any differently?
Is 7.35 a good mile time for a 5th grader?
If you did it your first time, then it's ok. If you keep training it shouldn't happen anymore.More Questions & Answers...
