Just inhale throught the nose and exhale through the mouthDoes running on a treadmill everyday make you faster?
most track coaches say in through nose out through mouth... when I run I do opposite but only because its a bad habit... I guess its personal preference. I tend to taked deep long inhales and exhales to get more oxygen. Colder weather its harder to breatheCoaches do preach "in through the nose and out through the mouth." I say just breathe. If you are a mouth breather, so be it. I suck wind any way I need it. Your body needs oxygen, so get it.
Don't worry so much about breathing. It will come in time as you become a more efficient machine.
What will make you a better runner has more to do with smart, sensible training, enough rest, and fluid form.
Now in cold weather, breathing can range from tingly to almost a burning sensation. Going through the nose more will help some, or consider a mask. (I can't stand 'em, but that's me.) Your tolerance for this goes a long way in determining whether you want to run in cold, dry air.
Listen to your body. Happy holidays!
Anyone can tell me more about the life story of USA athetic Prefontaine who died in 1972 at age 24?
When I ran track back in high school (sprinter)That's how I breathed, in through nose, out through
mouth. But when I trained I put water in my mouth.
Not to drink, but to make me breath through just
my nose. You try and run 3 miles during practice just breathing
through your nose and see if you can do it. At first it was very hard and I kept
on spitting it out or just drinking it. But once I got the hang
of it, I could run a complete practice doing it. I could control
my breathing and made me relax, which in turn made me
faster than the competition.
What is the world record for the 800 meter race?
Just breath. The main thing is to get as much oxygen into your system as possible. This is most easily done breathing through your mouth. Bigger cavity = larger quantity of air consumption. As far as breathing rhythm? I'd recommend 2:2 breathing. 2 strides inhale, 2 strides exhale. 2:1 for kicks. That's what most people use. Play around with it to find a breathing rhythm that works best for you. What is the best way to improve your long distance running including ways to stretch, run, and eat?
