The runner appears to be named Gianna Jessen. If this is the same Gianna Jessen of whom I read long ago in People magazine, her CP is due to her being the survivor of a third-trimester saline abortion. She was adopted by a pro-life activist, and at the time the article was published, there were concerns that she was being exploited by pro-life activists. She denied this (she was a teenager at the time). On the one hand, she probably was exploited to a certain extent; on the other hand, her life had been threatened by an abortion procedure intended to kill her; and the pro-life activist who had adopted her had fostered her continued existence. If she had really thought about it at the time, I think that would have been pretty heavy-duty.
