Question:I had surgery on 10/9/06 to remove calcifications from my patella tendon (doctor said something like that) I had them from running a lot on my injured knee. So I was wondering if anyone else had this and when I would be back in top shape...
I'm a freshman and although I haven't run in a while my best 400 time from last year was a 59.65 I was the best in middle school but hs is way different I need to be running sub 56 or so by the end of this year so my questions are is this realistic and how long is recovery and are my times good

You should be able to run again about 4to 6 months after the surgery. You should still work your knee some. For example when sitting in a chair left your legs straight out. One of many things they do in therapy for the knee. Also when legs are straight flexing them multiple times. These will help excersizing your bad knee wont freak when u first start running, you should probably start out biking first after the 4 month point ish. Biking is easyer on the knee, but still helps. You will never be 100% untill at least a year later, sorry to tell you. I have seen grown men cry when they are told that so don't feel bad if u do.lol. good luck. and that is a sweet time for a 400 at your age. keep it up.
