Track Meet? Help It's TOMORROW!?
Sit-ups help build your core muscles, these muscles really aid in stability, so indeed keep doing your sit ups. While a good core will help you run the two miles that doesnt gurantee you will win the race. You need to practice. I would run 3 or 4 miles to prepare for the 2 miles race. If you can get 3 or 4 miles under you belt then the 2 will be "GRAVY".Also, don't just work your stomach, work your legs and arms as well. When your legs get tired pump your arms to get you moving, when you arms get tired use your legs, and if both get tired mind or body -BABY!!
For the actual race: Pace yourself (long strides, stretch all the way out), until you are ready to sprint the last two laps or 200 yards, (then short strides) remember to lift your knees high in that final sprint, especially when that "bear" jumps on your back, if you are running your hardest the entire way through you will know exactly what I am talking about it will feel like you are carrying a ton of bricks.
For practice: You should work on your sprinting. Try walking the curves and sprinting the straight-a-ways, do that for about a mile (4 laps) then run the last mile straight through, then switch it up.
Also you can incorporate your sit-ups into your pratice, for example, run two laps, then do 50 sit-up, run two laps, then do 50 push-up (arms helps a lot in running), run two laps, 50 launches, run two laps, then do 50 squats. That is your two miles right there. However you want to do it.
But if you condition yourself for more than the 2 miles then it will be smooth sailng.
Drink water, get a good night's sleep, have a light breakfast, and do your best
Hope this helps
