How much do spikes help your sprinting times?
I was just wondering if anyone had any idea how much spikes could quicken your time in the 100m,200m and 400m.

What are some good ways to improve my mile time?
It really depends on how you are already running those races. In the 100 they could take a little bit off your time by helping you run on your toes, but that event is more pure speed than others. In the 200, it's kind of the same deal with the speed you already have. in the 400s it could have an impact but not much either; i ran the 400 in 58 with trainers on and with spikes, i ran 56-57 only b/c i was able to force myself to run on my toes for most of the race. How fast should i run? please help.?
Probably less at the higher distances But compare high 9 second finishes for spike shod athletes with mid-11's for footballers over a timed 100m.When i get up on 5am .. then wad should i run on empty or >>??
i went from 16s to like 15-14's for the 100 and the 200 like 33-30. but it could depend on how u run because spikes force you on your toes and their lighter so if u already spint like that and ur shoes are light then it mite not do much, but in my experiences theyre a good investment.Alot. if you are serious about track you really should get some.
The rule of thumb is you can usually improve your 400 time by about 2 seconds with spikes over flats. The shorter races should be about the same percentage. It really depends on what your times are without spikes.
Is it better to run on the balls of the feet?
think about this for a second with spikes you are digging into the track so you have that much more pull with every step and you never have to worry about your shoes slippin with can be the difference of 1st and last in any of those racesMore Questions & Answers...
