Stand height for the high jump?

I just start doing high jump at my track practices and I would like to know how high the bar starts at a meet? It is a meet for middle schoolers. I can clear 4' right now, but I need to know how much better I gotta get. Your help appreciated :)

Track and field?

As an official I usually get instructions from the meet manager as to starting heights. However, in middle school and young people's meets we usually ask the jumpers what height would they like to start, and use that height.

Track/ XC Off-Season Training?

they usually start it at 3' 8" or like higher.
for my division they usually start at 3' 8''.
if you are really tall, you have a good advantage. try to working on jumping higher. a good height would probably 4' 6". if you are over 5' 6" then use the advantage and attempt 4' 8".
good luck!
