How much does strength in your legs matter in regards to running?

I have occasionally had a small coffee before a longer distance running event (5K or a 1/2 marathon),
however, Red Bull is 3X-4X the normal caffine and will quickly cause you to slow down due to the dehyratrion effects. Stick with Propel water, Gatorade or Powerade. I've also used those Gels such as PowerGel and GU and that seems to help when used with enough water?

Why is running fun?

It would hurt you, because your blood pressure would be high from the caffeine before you even start. You should drink non-caffeinated beverages (like water) before a run.

Should I...?

it will hurt you. At first you feel so energized and ready to go but once that race starts and you get around the curve, your tired already and feel worse then before. Stick to water or gatorade. I run the 200m too!! :)

hurt.
caffeine will only dehydrate you and give you a stomache ache. great way to throw up.

i suggest gatorade or water.

How can i increase my running speed for the 400m and 4x4m run?

Hurt you young Daniel-son. Although caffeine does give you energy, it also raises your heart rate. This could affect your performance during the race. a good source of energy would be a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade. The sugar will give you a little boost of energy and help to keep you hydrated.

What mile time do you need to get into Notre Dame?

It could increase your heart rate, which is dangerous. I drink coffee before I run, not much though, I also drink a lot of water and gatorade as well. A red bull is probably equivalent to 5 or 6 cups of coffee.....not good.

Does the Nike + / IPOD track your mileage correctly?

totally depends on the distance. for a half marathon or longer, i'd say hurt you. you don't want to start out too quick or you might bonk. for a 5k, it would probably help me.
