Running my first marathon. What happens when i place in the top 50?
Question:Recently I met a Olympic Track and Field athlete and we joked around about racing. The joke turned into the guy challanging me to run a marathon and I found the distance around town and to a point and I finished the distance in 2hr52min untrained. So I decided to train and get into a marathon in San Deigo in 2 months. Based off my training I will complete it in 2:40:00-2:50:00 which will place me in the top 50 of over 20k racers.
What would happen after that kind of time for my first marathon?
Answers:
Other than that, nothing but a firm congratulations and respect. Only the top 2 or 3 men and women get money.
How does running on the balls of my feet help?
You would have beaten all except for 1 to 49 racers.I dunno whether I should join cross country as my cca?
then you try for top 40-30-20-10 Big number 1.What is your best 5K time, and where was it?
That would be awesome! Are you counting on a distance of 26.2 miles?
you may get a medal or free tee-shirt
When you run in track, do you breathe through your mouth or nose?
you usually dont get any prize money unless you finish in the top 10 or under.but depending on your age, you could finish in the top 10 for your age group, which may get you some money also. check the website for the marathon, it will tell you what prizes there are.
other than that, theres not special recognition. you will qualify for Boston, which is always a great acheivement.
New to running... could use some advice -- treadmill to outdoor running?
Your time is very impressive for a first time marathoner. It's also a great achievement given your age (no disrespect). You would need to look into the marathon you plan to run in San Diego. They will have a list of prizes for the top overall finishers, and for the top age group finishers, if they have prizes at all. If nothing else you qualified for the most notable marathon in the world...Boston. Good luck!
How many calories should i take before a long distance race?
maybe a big shiny nedal...no...that's first and second place...a ribbon...no...that's 3-6 place...umm, oh yeah, the self confidence and knowing that you ran 20k in less than 3 hours, which is pretty damn good! Remember that when you run, it is NOT about what THING you get out of it, its the feeling inside that you DID IT.Goodluck man. And if you have time, wanna run a few miles for me? Just kidding. But seriously, goodluck!
How to improve our samina when it comes to long distance running?..?
depending on your age, you'll likely place in the top 3 in your age group. if so, you'll probably get a medal.if your untrained 26.2 time is ACTUALLY 2:52:00, then i'd say we'll be hearing a lot more about you in the near future.
