Breathing by mouth/nose when running?
You had a 10 second slow down on the second lap. Maybe you went out too fast on the first. You need to run as even as possible. If you go out too fast your slow down will be a lot worse. You need to know how fast you are running so you do not go out too fast or too slow. Try to come through the 400 in 1:12, you must run hard on the third 200, it is the hardest of the race. 1:12 first lap, 1:12 second lap will give you a 2:24. That is a big drop in your time. Remembe you can not suddenly run sub 2:00, it takes time to learn to run. Take little bites no one starts out at the top. What is a college cross country and track coaches average salary?
well a simple answer would be to just not run so hard your first lap. Stick with that runner but you can be a little behind. Your last 300/200 meters should be your EVERYTHING!I used to run the 800 during my first two years of track. I was decent at it, running 2:20. My first lap was always about the same as my second lap time wise. you want to stick to a pace where you can keep it for most of the run. YOU DO NOT WANT TO SPRINT the last 200 or so meters. its just a bad way to run the race b/c it makes you look good only to the ppl in the stands who do not understand the race. if you do, your coach will probably not be too happy about it either. My suggestion would be to stay with the pack for the first 200 or so, then adjust according to how you are feeling ( you dont want to have to walk the last lap) once you finish the first lap, try to see if you can pick the pace up. the key to this race is to evenly distribute your speed. sticking with the 2:22 would be an easy way to pick that pace up, but dont limit yourself to that pace, pick it up if you feel good.
I want to start running how do I start?
ok, well i sometimes run the 800 when i have track meets and my fastest so far is a 2.05...i would suggest that if you know how you run a 400 meter race then you should know about how fast you should run your 800. to me the 800 is a sprint, you want to start out your first lap comfortable but not slow, a slower then your 400 then you want to run the second lap even faster. your want to run your last at your 400 pace. this last lap will be hard so you can split it up on picking it up at the beginning of the first lap and the last 200 metersTips for 4x100m relay and Long Jump?
Well, the good rule is not pust yourself so hard on the first lap trying to beat everyone else who runs fast. It is good to run slower at the start and then catch up on everyone on the second one when they are tired. This rule goes more for long distance running, but it would be good for running 800m as well. What is the best warm up before sprinting the open 100m/200m?
