Cross Country..a dirty sport?

Running shoes, cross country shoes?

if you mean 'bending' of the rules while running out of sight of the judges, then yes.

theres an awful lot of pushing, tripping, blocking, and other things going on out in the woods.

Is anyone out there going to run the Miami marathon 2007...?

If it's not dirty it's not worth it! Cross country running is made for people who love the off road; the rain, the mud, the creeks, the horrible temperatures- it's nuts! The messier the better!

I need to learn how to run long distances?

Cross country is definitely a dirty sport in many ways! First off, the obvious mud. Of course, if you don't love mud, there's no reason to run cross country. Then, there's the pushing, shoving, and spiking that occurs in the woods during races when the judges aren't around. Lastly...there's the obvious meaning of the word dirty to a high schooler; and that's the most fun dirty of all. :) Of course, that depends on the team; personally, my team is a dirty team.

Pre-Race Routine?

Heck yes it is! Races are NEVER, and I mean NEVER cancelled. Ok, that's a lie, they would cancel if the weather was dangerous (lightning, tornado, etc.). Anyway, the point is, the race takes place in the cold, in the rain, in the mud...whatever. The rain makes the course all sloshy, so you get mud all over your legs. Even if it's a bright, beautiful sunny day, it's still dirty because there's the occasional creek in a course that you have to just...run right through! That can be fun though, especially on a hot day! :) :)

Where do you find pepper spray to buy?

By dirty I am going to assume you mean runners doing things to give them a better chance at winning. If so... then yes... Cross Country is VERY dirty. I ran in high school and college and have been through some tough crap. I've taking elbows to the ribs, shoulders, mouth.. you name it. They are not "accidents" either. I've been boxed in by teams to where I can't make a move up to the front. I've seen runners detour off the course when out of the sight of officals. Some other people say that Cross Country is not a dirty sport but most of those people can't run 3 miles if their lifes depended on it. Strong subject.. lol.
