Explain PACE please?
I ran a 5K on April 15th and next to my time it lists a pace of 6:10 what is a pace exacly and based on what is it calculated? is it related to the time? I haven't been running for long and I'm training for a 10 K now and I need to know about this pacing business because it's part of all training plans but no one bothers to explain what it is exactly. Thank you!

Haw fast can you run 100 Meters?
A pace is the speed that you were traveling. For example, in the 5K race, a pace of 6:10 means that, on average, you ran each mile in 6 minutes and 10 seconds. Your total time should be roughly 19 minutes and 10 seconds, which is pretty good. You generally calculate your pace by dividing your total time by the number of miles you ran. Or you can use a pace calculator like at the link below. In your training plans, they should discuss terms like an "easy pace", "race pace", and "fast pace". They all refer to the speed that you should be traveling during your runs. While there are no strict rules regarding the definitions of these terms, an easy pace should be 1-2 minutes per mile slower than your race pace, and your fast pace should be the fastest that you can manage to run a particular distance.
The training programs will also discuss what your pace should be during each part of the race. Usually, for a 10K race and many other races, the pace during the first half is slower than the second half. There may be other strategies, depending on which training program you use.
Good luck with your training.
Pacing yourself is when a person takes their time while running while not over working themselves and getting tired.. Pacing is a good way to keep going and not stop.
Quick Speed-Session question!!?
its time...you should be abl to use simple math to determine why its like it isIn gym i m expected to run 37 laps in 12 minutes. How do you do that?
The rate of covering a specific distance while running or walking.Table of definitions from the special olympics website.
There is also a pace calculator at this running site: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/4/4_1/...
Pace in this case is your average per mile of the race. This is a good time for the 5K. Since meter races are not exact in miles most people here can relate better if they know what kind of speed they were running per mile. When you are training you need to use your pace, or speed per mile to calculate your effort, which is why it is a part of training programs.
Can anyone recommend a track in or near Cardiff that i can use to train?
A "pace" allows you to run at the same speed throughout the entire race. You might have a '6:10' pace but that's only calculated by taking your final time and dividing it by 3 (for the amount of miles you've run) What you would like then is to run around that time per mile rather than running your first mile at 5:30, your second at 8:40 and another fast third mile. Pacing yourself allows you to find a comfortable speed that your body can handle. You can then 'push' your pace or slow it down based on what you need to do. 6:10 is your race pace. This will not be the pace you train at always but it will give you a good idea when the training calls for your to run at your pace, etc. Hope this helps.Today i did a mid lancs (cross country ) 3k n got 13min but on road i get 9to10mins why?
Pace is the average speed you were going throught the race. For your 5k you ran on average about 6:10 minute miles. Which is good if you haven't been running a long time. For a 10k(6 miles) if you pace yourself, next to your time instead of saying 6:10 it might say something that is slower. It is good to pace because if you go to fast in the beginning you won't have energy for the end of a race especially a 10k.More Questions & Answers...
