Proper method to run? heal-ball?

deos landing on heel damage the body or spine? how is one supposed to run?

Answers:

How do I pace myself for 1500m? (Any tactics I should know)?

You'll want to smoke a cigarette or two first. It'll loosen up your lungs and you'll breathe alot easier. When you breathe easy the body relaxes and you move more efficiantly. This will reduce the wear and tear on your body. Keep it down below a pack per day though. Loosen up too much and you'll stagger and fall.

I want to run further?

distance runners land on their heel, and roll through their foot to push off with the toe.
sprinters land on the balls of their feet.

landing on the heel wont damge your body if you do it correctly. you dont want your feet to 'slap' or 'pound' on the ground. a good distance runner's stride will feel like your legs are rolling, and not make much noise at all.

What percentage of the world, in your estimation, can run a 5 minute mile?

It should not damage your body, but it is not an efficient way to run. You should land either flat footed or on the ball of your feet depending on your speed. Think about having your foot pawing the ground and coming back at the same speed you are moving forward. If you land too far ahead of your center of gravity you are breaking with your legs until your center of gravity passes over your foot and you push off for the next step.

Why did I get leg cramps in my calves while running today?

Running itself damages our bodies more than any other exercise. I was always told Distance runners land on their heels,
sprinters on the balls of their feet. Having your boby directly over the top of your foot strike and landing almost flat foot but slightly on the ball of your foot is being proved to be less injury.
For sprinters on the top of the ball is the only way to be fast.

Do I need new running shoes?

running on ur heels is a good way to screw up ur knees
run on ur balls of feet for distance trust me
easier to run up hills also when u run on the balls of ur feet

Has anyone run the Paris Marathon?

If you run distance (like me) you should run heal-ball, but if you are a sprinter in short distance then you run more on you balls of your foot.
