Safe Places To Walk or Run Around Los Angeles?
Question:This is ol' SenoritaFartsALot searching for SAFE places to walk in Los Angeles. I used to walk about 9 to 12 miles a day and I would love to do it again. I walk alone and I don't feel like having any freaks try to fondle me, etc, as I enjoy the fresh smell of spring.
Any ideas?

If you like someplace with a view, Runyon canyon is an amazing place where there are great views as well as a good terrain. Another great place where thousands of runners go is on San Vincete Road in Santa Monica.
I know you want to walk alone, but if you're concerned about your safety, it is always better to run with a running partner or a running group. The Los Angeles Road Runners is an awesome group. When I ran the inaugural City of Angels Half Marathon last year, many of the people I met couldn't say enough nice things about it.
What is the best way to start off track practice?
Try running through South Central. If they think you're crazy, they'll leave you alone. You could drive to Malibu and walk around there--I've never been seriously hassled there. Or, you could probably walk in the residential section near Rodeo Drive. Or, get a big, scary looking dog and walk in just about any park with it (during the day).
