What is "dipping"?

It's my first year running track, and I hear people talk about "dipping" and "striding". What does this mean.

Why do i get lower back pain when I run?

Dipping is done at the finish line maybe to take a slight edge
to win from someone. It's leaning forward to move your head
and chest with your arms/shoulders back as you approach 1 to
2 meters in front of the finish line.
Striding is increasing the length of your stride to train your body
during practice or training runs. Giving you a better ability for races such as 200meters to 1 mile.

Nike monster fly bad for 300 meter?

I havent heard it called that, but I think they are referring to a bad stride. when you take too long of a stride, your body will bob or "dip" as your leg goes forward. during a proper stride, your upper body wont move much, both up and down or side to side.

What makes cross country so interesting?

Dipping is basically something that can help you win a close race. As you are about to cross the finish line, lean your upper body forward, to cross the finish line 1st. (The winner is the one whos upper body crosses first, in any race, distance or sprinting.)

Striding is the way you run. You know, the distance between each step you take. Your "strides" are the steps, and you just have to keep a good pace.

Good luck during your first year, its alot of fun!
