Training for XC?
Question:I have been running a lot lately. I really enjoy it. Also, I want to do a sport next year and I think I want to try XC and/or track. The problem is, I timed myself as I ran a mile yesterday and it took me 11:32. It's a horrible, horrible time. And I know I'll never make XC with times like that.
What I want to know is this: what can I do get in shape and faster by the time XC comes around in August?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

i have a chart our coach gives us so ill copy it down here:your first week(7mile week)- 1mile every day (repeat for 2weeks if your not ready for the next week)
week 2(14mile week)- 2miles everyday except on monday only run 1
week 3(17miles week)- 3 on friday and sunday, 2 the rest of the days except monday only run 1
week 4 (21 mile week)- doesnt matter how u break the next few up as long as u are running everyday
week5 ( 24mile week)
week 6(28 miles week)
week 7( 31 mile week) - most of our runners stay on this week for at least a month
week 8( 38mile week)
week9-(41 mile week)- only the mvp made it past this so ill stop here.
also fridays you go at a slow jogging pace, saturdays you push yourself and time yourself, sunday is a medium pace, monday is a timed run so u go as hard as u can, tuesday is another medium run, wednesday is another medium and also do a few sprints after ur done with ur run, and thursday is just another medium day. this system is a lil confusing but it works and you can be a really good runner is you use this. hope it helps. && sorry my answers so long
How can i run the 400m dash and the 200m dash without getting exausted?
I would personally talk to the cross country coach. Cross country is a sport that coaches willingly accept anyone who will give it a try- and they will have a better idea as to how to get you headed in the right direction. Also, if you are worried aabout making the team, becoming involved by talking TO the coach will up your chances because you're showing a desire to be a part of their team!Don't give up!
How fast can u run 2 miles? 1 mile? 40 yard dash?
I would just make a 6 day running plan consisting of1. Long run monday
2. interval tuesday
3. light run wed.
4. Tempo run thur.
5. light run.
6. Race day Time your self for the mile Saturday
No running sunday

If you love running, you should DEFINATELY do XC!! I do it, and I LOVE IT! Its soooo much fun!!! But to get ready for it, just run in the summer! also talk to the cross-country coach about it! If you try, you'll definately get better!!! Just start out slow and work yourself up! And it depends how old you are too! Good luck! CC is soooooo much fun! Its hard, but everything about it is fun!
