Hey I'm wondering what types of Plyometrics i can do to increase my sprint speed and over all distance speed?
I'm looking to run the 400m, 800m, and 1500 this summmer track season.

For your sprint speed, you can pretty much do any plyometrics. The Strength shoes are pretty good too. Invest in those and run your race with the shoes on during your practice. You are guaranteed to to knock a couple seconds off your sprinting.
What is a good time for the 400m?
Plyometrics are just bounding and jumping, some on flat ground and some onto and off of boxes of different heights. You can also hop up stadium steps. Anything you do will increase your explosive muscles to help with your speed. It increases your muscle strength, which helps you run. You are running a large range of events from the 400 to the 1500. I think if you are a middle distance runner doing some 400s will help your speed. If you are a 400 runner I don't think doing the 1500 will help that event. Can an overweight person train for a marathon?
Plyometrics help increase your fast twitch muscles and foot speed, which in turn will increase your sprinting speed. To do these you can draw or use tape to make a big plus (+) sign on the ground and number the boxes, starting with the bottom left and going clockwise, 1-4. Now staying on your toes with knees slightly bent you can jump to different combinations of boxes for a given amount of time. Such as 1 to 2, 1 to 4, 1 to 3, 1-2-3-4, and so on with either both legs or either leg. A good way to track your progress is set your timer for 30 seconds and go through the workout and count how many jumps you made, then in a couple of weeks count again.More Questions & Answers...
