Does running make you buff?

Answers:

Whats the difference between running on your heels and your balls of your feet?

No, running alone does not make you buff. It makes you lean, but if there's no significant muscle mass underneath, you'll look lanky like Bekele.

I am a cross trainer (lift weights and bike and run) looking to do a triathlon in the future when I learn how to swim properly. The thing about lifting too much weight is building significant muscle mass. When you build up the size of your muscle cells , what happens is that the number of mitochondria stays the same. So now the same number of mitochondria have to work to process the same amount of oxygen for bigger muscle cells, so at some point, lifting weights becomes counterproductive to running speed.

Do you know the world record time in 100mt, who & when?

It depends on how far you run.

Track Spikes?

Lean.

Shaky after a long run.?

No, it makes you more toned and defined and increases your stamina. Weight lifting makes you buff.

Where can I find a good workout plan for runners?

No, it does burn fat, boosts your metabolism and gives you more energy. If you lift weights with a high metabolism you should easily gain muscle. SO it certainly doesnt hurt.

What is the best weight training to prepare for a 10/k race?

Well I used to walk and run a lot and I can tell you personally that it makes your calves buff. . .like seriously buff, everyone at school makes fun of me saying that if I kicked someone they would die from the buffness of my calves. . .if you want buff calves then run. . .I think I know why only my calves are buff, it's because I rarely did any arm movement. . .if you run make sure you use your arms

Whats the lowest amount of body fat you can have and still be healthy?

It`s cheap, easy and it makes you fit as a fiddle. Look to be doing about 6 to 10k every other day. There is no point being Buff as you say. Women don`t give a fig about buff only men care about that. Nice manners and a shower beats biceps hands down. Ask a woman if you don`t believe me.

What length spikes to wear for xcountry, 800m or 1500m?

It does depend on how far you run, yes. If you were sprinting 100m and only running short/fast distances you'd certainly bulk up.
But generally if you are out running for over 40 minutes you will burn excess fat, and you will improve the muscle definition in your legs. This is more to do with endurance than power/bulk/large muscle, if you want to bulk up then lift heavy weights.
As for the bit about women, that purely depends on personal taste, which changes between everyone!

What Is BETTER?

no,but it gets you leaner

How to not tire out so quick while running?

If you mean "bulk up" no. If you do a lot of sprinting during your run you calves will get bigger, but not real big. If you do long slow steady paced running your legs will actually get smaller because the muscles you are using don't need that much space in your legs. However you will get much leaner. I am tall and thin. When I started running I thought that I couldn't get any thinner, but over the course of the season I lost 10 pounds and even after that I didn't look sickly or anything like that. So in short running will not make you "buff" you will get thinner and your legs might get a little bigger, but you will look and feel good. I hope that this helps
