Class designations in 10K race?
Does anyone know what the "class" designations in a 10K race are? I was just looking at the results from the 10K in Richmond this weekend, and some people have a class of "X", some are "V", some are "AZ", some are "W" and so on... And are they standard from one 10K to another?

The letters are just a code used in the scoring software. The codes themselves - "X", "AZ", etc. - are meaningless. As said before, the classes typically refer to gender and age groups. They probably would not be standard from one race to the next, although the same Race Director/Timer might use the same categories in all of his/her races. It would be very unusual for them to only list the class codes without some sort of legend.Does High School track happen year round or is it seasonal or etc? Is it happening now?
They'll usually break up the results by male/female, and divide those into age groupgs. Im not familiar with those letters, though. The only classification I have seen is by sex and age. If it is a school then they would be sorted by the size of the school. What you have must be some local thing.
What's a good website to find races such as 5ks, 10ks, or 5milers?
Normally most larger 10K road races are in 5 year age groups (40-44 etc.) and by sex. Maybe those alphabetic listings should be as an M (Male) or F (Female) and by various states?More Questions & Answers...
