I fell on my tailbone and I have track meet coming up?
I slipped and fell on my tailbone. I am up and walking and it is not fractured. I have a track meet on Monday. I have been injured like this for 10 1/2 days. It really hurts when I run, so I cannot run fast. At this point, I can do a slow jog without pain. Will I be able to run fast in time for my track meet?
Answers:
In the meanwhile, avoid sitting down for long periods of time. When seated, try to sit on hard surfaces and alternate sitting on each side of the buttocks. Also, lean forward and direct your weight away from the tailbone.
To help ease the pain and speed up your recovery, apply ice to the tailbone area for no more than 15 minutes at a time for 4 times a day. You can try ibuprofen (Advil), or a similar pain medicine to help with the pain. It will also help if you eat foods high in fiber so that you have a softer stool.
You can purchase a "doughnut" cushion or pillow to sit on. This cushion has a hole in the middle of it to prevent the tailbone from contacting the flat surface.
Try to get a lot of rest, and good luck on your recovery.
If you don't have raw talent as runner, is it still possible to succeed in that field?
put ice on it off and on for ten minutes. it may look finny, but like the next day a ton of blood will go to it and heal it. trust me its works.Should mo farhar sick to cross country?
Um i'm a track star also and i would suggest rubbing a LOT of ice hot and start sleeping with a heating pad and then see what happens. And if that doesn't work like my coach tell me do what you can do and don't do what you can't.P.S. WISH U A LOT OF LUCK
