walking 1.5 miles a day for a week (so you build up muscle and stamina)
second week: 1.5 miles 2 mins run -and walk for 2 mins (alternating both for the whole 1.5 miles)
third week 1.5 mile jog
Don't forget to warm up properly, otherwise you will strain a muscle, and be unable to train again till your better.
eat as much protein as you can during this time. as muscle feeds on protein (everyday: 2 tins of tuna or steaks or fish etc)
Your body eats carbs to produce energy, so rice or baked potato, pasta with your protein too!
You will find you will get more hungry, which means your metabolism is speeding up, and your body is using the food. this means your doing everything right!
this is how people train to pass a navy fitness test, which requires alot of running and stamina!

To become a runner. i.e. to be able to really enjoy running you need to the point where you can run 20 to 30 minutes at an easy pace without stopping. In addition, you must be be able to repeat this workout 4 times a week. From my experience, it typically takes about 8 weeks for a healthy, motivated individual to go from being a non runner to being a runner. There are many plans that you can follow. An excellent beginners plan is on Runnersworld website. Here's the link.

Note, if the above link does not work, go to Runnersworld.com and search for running 101.
Basically, you start with a combination of walking and running. The total duration of the exercise is 20 to 30 minutes. Over the course of the 8 weeks, you slowly decrease the amount of walking and increase the amount of running. Eventually, you get to the point where you run 20 minutes without walking. The most important thing is to take it slowly so you do not get injured.
Good luck.
Muscular and Strong Legs 'EQUAL' faster runing timing?
Make a plan! Determine what you want to be able to do once you are in shape (ex. run 2 miles or run the 100m in 13 sec) and build up to that.Good ideas are doing workouts where you run longer distances at slower paces and workout where you run shorter distances at a faster pace (than your desired ideal run/in-shape activity)

Running is a great activity / sport...but you have to ease into it. Try the 10-week schedule below to get you started. It's better to start gradually and keep going than it is to start fast and not make it to your goal. Best of luck!
