What type/brand of running shoes should I buy?

I am a beginning runner with weak ankles. I also tend to walk on the outside of my feet, as opposed to steping down straight with equal weight distribution. I also have flat feet. I have worn out my old pair of Nike shox. They were ok when they were new, but I quickly wore out the outside edge of the heal. Any suggestions of what shoes I should buy or how the strengthen my ankles would be appreciated.

Why is race-walking ridiculed or doesn't get much respect? (Athletics-Road Racing)?

The Nike Shox that you were wearing before were not designed for people with flat feet, and they do not give any stability towards your ankles. While they were fine for you, I think you will really like a shoe that is especially designed for your type of feet. This will become important when you start adding on the miles.

The fact that you're running on the outside of your heel means that you're an under-pronator. Don't worry, that just means that you have special feet. In addition, your weak ankles means that you will benefit from shoes that provide maximum guidance to your feet so that you can move naturally through each step. Basically, you need motion control shoes.

The ones I would recommend you try are the Asics Gel-Foundation 7 or the New Balance 856. I have also heard great things about the Brooks Addiction 7. Any of them are excellent choices, and you should go try them on to see which one fits you best.

I think these shoes by themselves should be enough, but if your ankles are still giving you difficulties, you may want to look at insoles that are specifically designed to support your ankles. The ankle area is more narrow so that your feet come down in just the right place.

Good luck with your new shoes, and welcome to the running world!

Shoes? shox?

Go to a good shoe store that has a person on staff that can talk to you about your special needs. Don't buy on emotion because someone recommended a shoe that fits THEM. All manufactures very in sole cushioning, width and a list that is to long to go into. Look in your local phone book for a sports rehab therapists and ask them to recommend a sport shoe store.
Good luck.

What year would two my friend run for Australia if she continue to run?

stay away from the Nike Shox, they are not made for running and will hurt your feet.

go to a store that specialized in running shoes, and let them look at your old shoes and stride. they can help you find a pair that works for you. I recommend Asics or New Balance, they make a wide variety of shoes for all kinds of feet and strides.

The Bleep Test?

You should go to a running store like new balance or runner's depot. The staff there will tell you what kind of support you need just by looking at the way you walk. For example, when I run my feet lean inward, so they told me I needed a lot of arch support. This is really the best way to tell what type of shoe you need.

I don't recommend Adidas shoes, I got a new pair this season and they are really worn out from just one track season. I have some tears by the laces. New Balance shoes last a really long time I used them last track season and they look better than my adidas shoes :P.

How do I improve my high jump for track?

Is running in the beach a good exercise?

I have the same problem with the weak ankles and I do ankle lifts. with both feet positioned evenly lift up on your toes, do about 3 sets of 15 and then do the same thing on each foot individually. I'm recovering for Achilles tendinitis, but was given these exercises to do twice a day to strengthen my ankles by my physical therapist. as well as strengths for the Achilles. I have also tried the Nike Free and they make my ankles sore and made the ankles worse. For shoes go to a store and have them evaluate your running style on a treadmill and rec commend a shoe for you. all of us have our favorites but what works for one runner may not for another. If you roll to the outside of your foot to much an orthotic maybe in order, but you can ask the expert when you get your shoe recommendation.. also concentrate on placement of the hill when you are running. its a constant battle until the ankles are strong and your running posture is correct and becomes natural, but you will help to avoid injury.

Its an incomplete poem...i'd like some ideas...help please..?

I have the exact problem, i have flat feet and uneven weight distribution. I tried Nike Shox and many other brands but the brand i like best is Basics. I was skeptical at first because they were only about $20 but they are very comfortable. My current pair has lasted me about 2 years and thats with cross country, they are almost done, but they are cheap so its easy to get several.

Where can I buy weighted track shoes?

i would get running new balance shoes or asics because they are meant for comfortability more than going faster mainly

Which is better... InStep Safari or Schwinn Safari double jogging stroller? I need to buy one asap. THANKS?

you need a high stablity rating, medium to low cushion. More cushion allows your feet to pronate or roll slightly, which could worsen problems for you. Stability will help you compensate for pronation (which you have since the outside of your shoe is worn)

research online a little first and check ratings, but especially look for stability. I'm all about nike, but any major brand shoe can work if it's right for your foot.
