i need to get .4 seconds faster at state to have a chance at first, what can i do to improve this week?

Work on coming out of the blocks and driving for 40 meters. Also run some 150 meters. The way to run is build up the first 50 meters on the curve, so when you hit the mark for 100 meters to go you are coming onto the straight. You should be at top speed. Relax, practice your form. Walk back for recovery. Do 10. The most important parts of the 100; start, and transitioning into top speed. (stay low, and it should take you 8 to 10 strides to become upright) Relaxing and maintaining your form and top speed for the entire race. Most people get tight and slow down the last 20 meters. If you can stay on top with good form you will pass these people.try distance running it improves your speed on the shorter sprints

The 100m dash isn't a race that is easy to improve in, in a short amount of time. My advice would be to make sure your form is perfect and your stars have to be flawless. At this point the only thing you can improve on is your quickness, aka your block starts. So practice on your blocks a few times each day, but be careful not to do too much too close to the big race. Other ideas to improve quickness are reaction drills.
