How do I increase my 800m times?
Answers:
Ok people this question is about friends about what you would do or loose for them?
Like Jim S said above, FARTLICKS will help and improve your 800m time. What you need to do is run for 45 seconds sprint-as fast as you can go-then about 1:00 REALLY easy (but still running) then 30 seconds all out sprint-then one minute easy, then 30 seconds sprint, then one minute sprint. Keep going 30 seconds sprint and one minute easy for about 1 mile. (make sure your first run is 45 sec. sprint). This will improve your endurance-but you have to do it right.
Good luck!
Is it possible to to bring my mile from 4:55 to 4:40 in the next two months?
fartlicks... those things where you sprint for 100 or 50m then jog for 100 or 50m... it will work on your endurance plus speedWhat is your race time now, and what do you want to run? If your goal is within reason, then run intervals so you will become adjusted to running at that pace. Do 5-6x 200 at the projected race pace with 2-3 minutes rest between each interval. Do 3-4x 400 at the race pace with 4 minutes rest between each interval. That is 2 different work outs for 2 different days. Do a day of over distance, 2-3x 1000 coming through the 800 10 seconds slower than race pace, with 10 minutes rest. Run easy mileage on your off days. In the race go out at the race pace for the first 400, run the 3rd 200 hard, it is the most difficult part of the race. If you relax on the 3rd 200 you will lose your pace and can not make it up on the last 200. Don't go out too fast or too slow. Your workouts should help you recognize your pace so you do not get caught up in the rush at the start. If you run the first 400 5 seconds too fast the second 400 will be 10 seconds too slow. If you run the first 400 too slow you will not be able to make it up.
Fartlecks will help greatly but you also need to do tempo runs and you need to get in the distance at least one- two times a week to help your endurance. another thing is to count your strides per minute. You would think that something so small wouldnt affect your times that greatly but you need to have a one foot stride that is about in the 90 range for one minute. also be sure to raise your knees fairly high and strike the ground hard but for the 800m one really important thing is to pack on the distance.
How much fitness do we lose after seven days off?
try working on the mile at a constant fast speed. then work out on sprinting the 400 m, 200 m, and 100 m. it helps your speed and endurance. it helped me. i run at a fast pace, and have a lot of energy left towards the end, which lets me pass the other people.More Questions & Answers...
