How much will my time improve if I stop eating fried foods?

I run the 4x800 the open 800 and the 1600. Does anyone have any idea?

Can I still be good at running track this late in age?

Last year, I was in a running group with a 60 year old guy who went straight to a McDonald's for a Big Mac after every long run. Sometimes, on a "good day", he would celebrate by having a pint of beer with some fish and chips (his favorite). What really killed me was that he was faster than me by quite a bit. It was really demoralizing... But it's hard to argue with a system that clearly works for him. In general, however, people like that rarely exist.

For the rest of us mortals, eating fried food is terrible for your system. Frying, whether in heart-healthy olive oil or artery-clogging lard, boosts a food's calorie count substantially. Deep frying fish, for example, adds about 100 calories per 85g serving compared to grilling, while frying chips instead of baking them adds a hefty 200 calories because the extra surface area on the potato strips allows extra oil to soak in.

In addition to tacking on all those unwanted calories (that will translate to unwanted weight that will slow you down), some oils can smoke and emit acrid odors under high frying temperatures, which is a sign that the healthy fats have oxidised. Research shows that carcinogens may form from this oxidation. Oils that are not refined or filtered, such as olive oil, are more likely to do this because they contain impurities.

Still, here is nothing I love more than buffalo wings, which are fried. And I do eat them and there is nothing that will ever stop me from doing so. The trick is to eat them in moderation, if you must.

Good luck improving your time.

Middle school cross country running times?

Your body will generally be more efficient, but it won't make you faster I don't think.

Technique makes you faster, I suggest studying your technique.

What does the inseam size on guy's shorts mean? Does specifically how long they are or something else?

Fried foods can slow you down as they rob energy from your body for digestion and add fat in your veins and to your overall body weight. Think about running the 800m carrying a milk jug (9 pounds).now think about running the 800m without the jug...you'd run faster, right? Replace the junk foods with some healthier options and you'll notice an improvement. Try some of the tips below in your training, too. Best of luck!

By how much will track cleats help me in the 100, 200, and the 400?

I'd say it would make a big difference in the way you feel, therefore allowing you to run faster. If you feel good, you can push harder and last longer. Give yourself a week or more before you start worrying about your times going down. Nothing happens overnight so be patient. I would never recommend a runner eat fast foods. Think of your body like an awesome sports car (i'll chose a porsche turbo, my favorite :-) Would you honestly buy the cheap gas and any use any old oil to run it? I'd hope not! The car might look good and fast but with that in it, it's not going to work as well. Same goes wtih your body- fill it with crap and you'll get crappy results. Fill it with healthy foods and you'll be running at your best!

Good luck!
