Hey, my friend keeps hating on x country, how can i get him to get off my case?
Answers:
if he says you suck tell him to run it and then make fun of him for how bad he did.
you can say oh and you can do better and challenge him or you can just tell to shut up because you couldn't do any better
you can make fun of the sport he plays
I am a 5'8 freshman girl high jumper and can't seem to get over 4'6 what can i do to improve??
I guess the general strategy I would have would be to just accentuate the positive. Unlike a number of other sports, it's a personal challenge. It basically is a test to see how hard you can push yourself for an extended period of time (obviously!). It's less a test of finesse and coordination, and more of a chance to showcase your pure unadulterated will to win. In addition, it really gets you in shape for everything else. I played tennis in addition to cross country, and I was the fastest guy in our region because of it. For people that do wrestling, or basketball, or basically any sport that requires running around at all, participating in cross country will give you an edge. Most of all, don't bring up the "short shorts." It's not a winning proposition. It's just not something we like to talk about. . . . .These people are trying to discourage you from doing something they can not do. It is common for jealous people to criticize and talk bad about others. I don't think you can get them to stop talking bad about something they do not understand. However, you could challenge them to a race. It works for me.
Why is he your friend??!?! Maybe he just feels so pathetic because there is no way in hell that he could ever do such a physically demanding sport that the only thing he can think to do is make fun of you. Try laughing with him; the more he knows that he's irritating you the more he'll continue to bug you about it. Beat him to the punch line next time. That ougta shut him up.

Tell him to lace up his shoes and you'll meet him at the school course for a little race. If he doesn't accept, then he needs to quit talking smack.Running on Ice: Helpful or Harmful?
I run x-country too, and when I first started my friends didn't think it was "cool" either. I just had them try it and practice with the team for a week or two. It was funny to see them gasping for breath after a light jog! After they saw what it is like, and what we go through every day, they respect the sport, even if they can't do it!!lolAnother way( if the first idea doesn't work) just tell them that you are gonna do it even if they don't think it's cool. If they got a problem with what you're into, then maybe they aren't your friends. Hope I have helped you, good luck with your friends!!
I am thinking of buying a Ironman treadmill from Costco - anybody have one? Do you like it?
Sometimes people just don't like the same sports. I don't know if there is anything you can do to convince them. I know that a lot of people like basketball, but it bores the crap out of me. Your friend might be the same way with XC. My friends when I was in high school hated XC, so we just didn't talk about it. It wasn't a big deal. Just don't worry about it. If it gets more annoying than you can take, find a new friend. Running is more enjoyable than most people's company anyway.More Questions & Answers...
