I want to run college track...?

I've always loved running and I've been in track ever since I was able (7th grade), so I've been in it a total of 7 years. I just graduated last year from high school and all along my plan was to attend a 4 year university and possibly run track (depending on how well i was doing my senior season). But in the end I decided not to go through with running track and actually just attended a community college. Now that it's track season again, i've been going to some meets (my brother is a senior and is in track, so I go to watch him and also to cheer on my old team) and all it's doing is making me want to run again. I miss it so much, even a few weeks after my last season of track was over with I was missing it, I guess I was just realizing that I would never run again. Anyway, my question is...do you think it's too late for me to run college track? it's just that track was like my thing, it's who i was and now that i no longer have it, i feel completely lost.

Running and breathing??

What events do you compete in? May take a while for you to get back into shape for competition, but I'd go ahead and plan to walk on the next season but go ahead and contact the coach now so you can participate in off season workouts with the team (if they have them). Definitely don't let the opportunity pass you by. Go with it, have fun and you'll have great memories.

Racing flats?

I say go for it.

Bad calf strain?

It is never too late to do something like running track. You have to know, from a former college runner, that it is a lot of work. Like a job more than a past-time...

I still want to encourage to do so though

How can I drop my 400 time?

you are probably a little out of shape by this point. (you lose 5% of your ability per week you take off) But, It Is DEFINATELY NOT too late!! I say go for it!! I run track, and absolutely love it. (I run the 400, 4X400, and 4X800, and run a few miles for practice) I say start running at home tomorrow, to get your endurance and speed back up, and ask about joining up for track asap. they should accept you, and then you just have to prove yourself. i dont know about the college that offered the scholarship. go find out. trust me, if you aren't doing your thing, you WILL feel lost, and nobody likes that. you might as well ask if you can join the team. the worst that will happen is you will be right where you are now. and then you can ask somewhere else. it is not too late. Go for it, and good luck!!

How do i push myself, when running??

Its never too late to start. Even if you dont run in college, train on your own and run unattached at any open meets in your area. That's the great thing about track is that you don't necessarily need to be on a team to compete, unlike football or baseball. I just started training and competing again after being out of the sport for 2 years and you'd be amazed at how quickly you can get back in shape if you work hard enough and want to bad enough. Go for it and don't look back.
