Im only a freshman in HS, i run a 12 min 2mile do i have a chance of getting a full scholarship?
I had a good friend, Miss Hale, in high school. Someone asked the same question. She said to run 880 m instead of 800. Your body is used to that distance and will let up prior to the finish line.By pushing through the finish and going on, you will run harder through the finish line and thus improve your time.
Where is the best place to buy running shoes in the Pittsburgh area?
Go to a (reputable) chiropractor and get checked out! When your spine, pelvis and skull are out of alignment, it puts you at a mechanical disadvantage. Proper posture and a balanced frame will shave your time, guaranteed!!Can anyone tell me how much effort is required to run a six minute mile?
Well I'd guess you'd run about 58-60 secs for a 400m?The key to the 800m is speed endurance. That is being able to retain the speed and running style when the latic acid in your body starts to build up. How old are you? Do you train much? The reason I ask is because I wouldn't recommend the following if you are under 16 or going through a growth spurt.
Do a jog/run of up to 6km up to 3 times a week.
On alternate days try interval running where you run say 6-10 x 200m with a walk for 100m and a jog for 100m at around 30 secs. Start easy with 6 and build up from this. Do this a maximum of twice a week at the moment and at least 2 days apart.
You can also use any distance up to 300m since you re young. A 300m interval session would consist of 4-8 with the same sort of recovery as the 200m interval session and in around 49-50secs.
After about three weeks of this give yourself a break from the interval sessions and just do the 6km runs.
As a young person you should also concentrate on your speed and your running "form". See an accredited athletics coach from either Little Athletics or Athletics Australia.
Tell you what if you don't train at the moment, then I can tell you from experience that you definitely have some talent!!
Hope this helps and see you at the Olympics one day
The 800 is totally my favorite event. I have looked into running the shorter distances, and most coaches I've talked to have agreed that the mile is the best distance to practice on. The mile gives you plenty of back-up endurance that you can use to go all out in races. The mile is also a decent event to work on for speed. I would recommend a series of repeats with them somewhere in your training. Also add in some quick sprints. Usually 60-100 meters is good. Do about ten repeats every other day. Make sure to do a lot of stretching and core work (although I'm sure you know this part). Your time looks awesome, and good luck with imroving on your event =)
well i think you should run some 400s to get up your speed for the first lap. then work on pushing yourself for the final lap. do some timed 800s in practice and try to improve by stretching your stride out.
