when running for basic exersice is it important to have running shoes. and if so how would you know which ones are right for you?

All my running shoes have been Nike air max they are the best for running, the air in them are distributed evenly through out the shoe.. make sure when you purchase a running shoe that you go up in size at least 1/2.
