Go to a club on your own. Practice on your own. Make sure your swing is straight and true. Practice potting straight in then, increase the angles, all the way to difficult cuts. Learn how to play snookers and playing safe. If your opponent has no shot you get more table time. Then learn bank shots. Then practice with guys better than you. You will take some beatings but ask what they are doing, learn it and do it. It takes time but you will get a lot better quick.Like everyone else said, practice.
