No loss..no foul as long as you contacted the 8 first...might even be a time where you might even with intent foul by making one of your opponents balls...knowing that he can't run out..for example: the 8 is locked up with one of his balls.no pocket for either the 8 or his.his has one other ball left..think about shooting his into the pocket.giving him ball in hand and let him solve the mess with the 8.he might just give it back to you with a safety.but still better then "wacking" at the 8 and opening it and his up for a run out....play 8 ball like a chess game..think!! before you shoot!!As long as you call the 8 ball , and hit it first , it doesn't matter if you make the opponents ball.
