Hold the cue stick so that when your back arm reaches the bottom of it's swing, that is the point where the cue's tip contacts the cue ball. Keep your back arm close to your body in order to contact the cue ball in the center. Practice just hitting the cue ball from one end of the table to the other, in a straight line.
