Which Billiard table surface is 2nd best? Slatron or MDF?

I have seen one of each both "Bar sized-7", and similar models, by the same company at about the same price. I know SLATE is the best. But, I will donate this one to a retirement home when I buy a house and invest in a superior 'Slate/Ovesized-8' table then.
