Best thing to do is go to a pool hall and practice. Most of the time during the day you can get a cheap hourly rate. I know when i was in college i would go to a local hall and play between classes. I found that shooting on a larger table, 8 or 9 footer, will make you better on the smaller quarter bar tables. Its all about learning the angles and the ball speed. Find someone to help you with you stroke and then just practice practice practice.
