What do I need to know about purchasing a pool Que?

Question:When I order a Pool Que do I need to order anything else, does the tip come with it. I know I need a case. How do I know about the weight and the diameter? Are Viper Ques a good one to start with? This is for my husband’s birthday gift and I can't go all out.
PLEASE if anyone knows about pool PLEASE PLEASE help me out. If there is anything else anyone thinks I should know, or where I should go to buy a pool stick PLEASE fill me in. :-)

What would your ideal pool hall have in it...?

If you are making the conscious decision that this will be a "starter" cue for your husband, then it may be alright to order one without testing it first. Don't spend any real amount of money on this cue though. I would choose a medium to lighter weight cue, something around 19 oz., just because you may not know how heavy your husband prefers it. The tip does come with the cue, although replacement tips can be bought separately. Viper would be a fine starter cue. The standard diameter shaft is 13mm. If you have a choice, go with a harder tip. I could elaborate if this was going to be a more permanent cue, but we'll save that for when the time comes. Best of luck. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
