Snooker is a cue sport that is played on a large (12 feet × 6 feet) baize-covered table with pockets in each of the four corners and in the middle of each of the long side cushions. It is played using a cue, one white ball (the cue ball), 15 red balls (worth 1 point each) and 6 balls of different colours (worth 2-7 points each). A player (or team) wins a frame (individual game) of snooker by scoring more points than the opponent(s), using the cue ball to pot the balls in the manner described below. A match consists of a previously agreed-upon number of frames. The size difference between a pool table and a snooker table has already been addressed, 4 1/2 X 9ft. and 6 X 12 ft. respectively. The biggest differences, other than size, are the pocket openings and the cushion height. Pool tables have angled corners on the pockets and snooker tables are rounded. Also, since snooker balls are smaller (2 1/16"), like the pockets themselves, the cushions are shorter to accommodate that. The cloth is also different between the two tables. Full size snooker tables, often have 8 legs, where pool tables usually have 4 and sometimes 6. I'm sure there are other differences, but these are the most prominent. Snooker table is usually bigger with much smaller pockets.balls I believe are also slightly smaller..ahven't played snooke for 30-40 years...regular pool much more fun and faster...The main diff. is the the size of the table. Also the pockets are much more narrow and have a rounded corner making it almost impossible to leave a ball hanging in the pocket. They use a slightly smaller ball too.
