the english ball in corner is to let you hit the cue ball at the bottom/top of ball! if you want the cue ball to hit your target and then spin backwards put the x mark at the bottom of that english ball. if you would like the cue ball to continue rolling forward after you hit your ball place the x at the top of the english ball! hope i helped
