How does one become a professional tour player?
I have often wondered (not that I personally am considering it) how someone becomes a tour player. Are there qualifying tournaments and schools like the PGA? Or do you have to maintain a certain type of sanctioned rating over a period of time like in bowling? Or is it simply like poker where if you have the money for the buy in, you're playing? Thanks.

What are the different parts of a pool cue?
For me, I applied to the PBA once I reached the minimum average held for two years. My house pro, league secretary and the bowling center's owner signed off on my application, then sent it off to the HQ for approval. Even though I had a full time 9-5 job, I bowled exclusively on the Regional tour with local stops less than 100 miles from where I lived. At that time, No. CA had at least two National Tour Stops within 30 miles of my home, and had a chance to bowl with the touring pros. The road to being a professional bowler was rough and disappointing some times, but after grinding through years of scratch leagues, amateur/semi-pro tournaments and professional tournament qualifiers, the cash made during my "part time" job was satisfying. Good luck!
