Should I buy this pool table?

Question:I have the option to buy this 8' , 3/4" solid slate pool table, already in my house. My friend is asking $150.00 for it. It needs felting & possibly bumpers. It has a few minor bumps and scratches on the wood, but pretty solid. No leg levelers.
What do you all think?

In the navy what do they mean when they say to pilots "call the ball"?

I would probably go for the deal. If you would like to keep the table the price seems to be fair. You will have probably 4 to 5 hundred dollars in it once you have it refurbished. Not a bad price to pay for an 8 foot fischer table , and without the hassle of moving it. You may want to have someone that knows about pool tables come over and do an inspection on it , just to be on the safe side but I think you'll be just fine. Leg levelers are not necessary, when they come to redo the table they will use thin wood shims to level it up. If your ambitious and want to save a bunch of money you can refelt the table yourself. Go to refelting.com and they will guide you through it step by step. If you don't think you can handle it , thats cool too. Either way , get the best cloth that you can afford. A good cloth like Simonis will last a long time with proper care and it plays much better than any of the cheaper brands. Always brush it down and cover it up after every session. Good luck to ya!

Any opinions on Burnwall Physical Therapy Pool in Valley Village, CA?

Talk him down. My guess is he doesn't want to move it again... I'll bet you could get it for $100 or less ! Tell him it's either cut $50 off of it or enjoy a new hernia !

Can't get yahoo pool blocked?

I thinks it's worth $150 to find out. The good news is that the table is already set up. It will probably cost you a few hundred extra to have it professionally reclothed, bumpered, and leveled, but you'll still be way ahead in terms of money. 3/4" slate is pretty good. That is what many bar tables have. The industry standard is usually 1", but 3/4" will do just fine. Many high end tables don't have levelers built into the legs. Wood shims are usually used to level these tables. 8' tables are the most common size found in homes. It's right in the middle between bar tables and professional tables. I say go for it 100%. What are the color's of pool balls?

That is a Pretty fair price as long as the slate is in great shape(no cracks, dings, etc). All the other stuff is minor and able to be fixed relatively cheap. Even with no levelers it should be OK as long as its not warped at all.
