Anyone have a favorite Brunswick model?

Question:I am settled on a Brunswick b/c of local dealer support. I have a 20 yr old Olhausen that is only an 8 footer and I need to be practicing on a full-sized table. I have read some bad things about the Gold Crown models 3 and 4 (foreign, cheaply made), but I don't know if this is true. Question: When did B go from the model 3 to the model 4? I also have opportunity to buy a 1920s Brunswick, but they want $2500 and I would have to spend quite a lot more to get in refurbed. It also does not have return valleys. I think I can get a better and cheaper deal with a model GC-3 that is probably 25+ years old...with return to boot. Sure, I'd like a Diamond Pro, but can't get to my price range. Thanks for all the wonderful help so far!! Nathan

Who decided what colours snooker balls should be ?

I'm not an expert on tables, but I've played on a lot of Gold Crowns and I've never had any problems with them. They are very simple, utilitarian, and sturdy. I can't speak intelligently on specific models of Gold Crowns. I wouldn't worry too much about getting a table with a ball return, unless that's something that you really want. The pros all play on drop-pocket tables. It makes the table lighter, and there's just less things that can go wrong with drop pockets. Noise is also a factor. Some ball returns can be rather loud. Another advantage of drop pockets is in verifying where a specific ball went if there is any dispute. My BCA Master Instructor is also an expert on vintage Brunswick tables. Unfortunately, he's all the way in Rockford, IL. I'll send you a link to his company, Antique Billiard Supply, Inc. Diamond makes a nice table, I agree. Have you looked into Connelly? Perhaps a new Olhausen? If I think of anything else to add, I will do so. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
