Pool table in the garage?

Question:I am trying to talk my mum into getting a pool table for me, and to place it into the garage, we dont use the garage for anything apart from rubbish. The garage is 8 foot by 16 foot. So I think a table would fit.

However she says it needs heating a better flooring and to be damped proof. Does it really need all that work doing just for a pool table?

Anyone a member of the APA?

Yes, unless you want it ruined after a month of rain. If you're just getting a cheap one then i guess it wont matter. Plus, do you really want to be playing pool in the freezing cold?

Why don't you just listen to your mom? Where is your mom gonna put all their stuff with YOUR pool table in the way, that YOU probably won't help pay for. Why don't you get a mini one and put it in your own bedroom.

Why is jeanette lee the hottest pool player ever?

Well, if its damp, that may cause some problems overtime; so its all down to just how damp it is in there, and how much you are spending on a pool table; but i would probably say, you may want to look at some sort of heating, to prevent it from becoming damp

Wat is the cheapest cue you can get endorsed by ronnie o sullivan?

No unless you have a real bad moisture problem(water on the floor) it will be fine. Extreme cold may affect the bounce in the rails temporarily though. a garage is a good place for a pool table it helps you mind your rubbish.
Good Luck

What is the difference between a good quality pool stick and a cheaper one it's all just wood right?

In college, my roommates and I had a pool table outside under a fairly large canopy. It had fold down edges and was watertight except for the bottom which had an inch or two space around the perimeter. It was on a concrete slab with fairly good drainage, but we still had some water pooling under the table. It stayed outside for at least three years through 105 degree (F) summers and 30-40 degree winters. It held up very well even with the moisture, heat, and mild cold.

Just make sure you have at least four feet around the perimeter of the table. From your question, it doesn't sound like your garage is big enough. Taking all your shots at steep angles will get old quickly.

That garage sounds awfully small, sorry to say.

no way

Have you ever read The Bank Shot and Other Great Roberries?

You can take care of the heat problem with electric space heaters if the garage has electricity. You would have to get a dehumidifier to rid the dampness. The problem is the size of the garage. You have plenty of length but 8' is not nearly wide enough. For a small 6' table you would need at least 13' of width to be able to shoot all of the shots without hitting the walls with your stick. You could use short cues for some shots but I just don't think it would be worth the trouble.
