Do pool players cheat on the break?
When I see the professional pool players break, they appear to jump, but you're supposed to always have at least one foot on the floor. Are they cheating?

Well I have seen players break hard enough to move mountains. ha,ha. I think most of the time it just appears that the feet are moving off the floor. Most of the time they stay on their tip toes. It is the jump, jolt, force,etc that makes it appear like both the feet are leaving the floor. If you know or see a player who's feet clearly leaves the floor and others can notice this too, then by all means call foul. The rule is "one leg on the floor when shooting at all times."How is the rating going in pool,who is the #1 player?

They're not actually jumping. I do this myself when I play. I keep one foot on the ground and the other foot kinda out behind me. It's quite comical to watch me play so I've been told. Anyway, I'm not saying that none of the pros on TV cheat, but I think the majority of them don't.Any body wanna play me pool instant messge me please?
Cheating? How is that cheating? Jumping clean across the pool table without touching any balls is perfectly legal.If they make the 8, it's a win.

After contact with the Q ball you could do cartwheels as long as you dont contact balls on table on move foreign object onto playing surface. there are a bunch of ways to (kind of)cheat but jts the person racking the balls loose or off center that kind of thing . I have never seen anybody (jump)into a break shot Kim use to look like she kicked the back of her head after the shot when she made contact she was well in proper stance. guess that bout covers it . 3.13 FOOT ON FLOOR
Player must have at least one foot in contact with the floor at the moment the cue tip contacts the cue ball, or the shot is a foul. Foot attire must be normal in regard to size, shape and manner in which it is worn.

It's true, the players aren't actually leaving the floor. Sometimes just the tip of their toe is all that's contacting the floor, but that's enough. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
simple answer - this is not cheating.
a lot of people will take a foot or both feet (sometimes) off the floor when they break so that they can put all of their body weight into the shot. As long as they have a part of one foot on the floor when the tip of the cue hits the cue ball then the shot is legal!
Some might jump a little bit, but I don't know of any specific rules that say they can't.
If there were a rule against it (and they were using that rule) then the official should call them on it.
Otherwise - a lot of times it is just the body language of the shooter - they may appear to be jumping, but are just getting their whole body involved in pounding the crap out of the rack with the cue ball. Some get a little bit ridiculous - I have had the occasional cue ball come flying over while I'm shooting. Most people are nice about it and say 'sorry', though I had one guy that was ready to fight after I told him he needed to 'chill out a bit' He came really close to leaving with my cue stuck where the sun doesn't shine, but by bizarre coincidence one of the managers came out when he heard us - and it was a guy I had used to work with!! Needless to say, I went back to shooting pool, and the dude was sent packing!! (Though I was really surprised he wasn't waiting for me outside!!)
