Combination called shot?
Question:If someone calls a combo shot and the opposite goes in first is it a legal shot. eg. 7 ball infront of a corner pocket and the 5 ball in front of the 7 and was called as 5, 7 combo. The 5 ball was hit first as called but the 7 ball pulled away some enough to allow the 5 ball to enter the corner pocket and the 7 ball was then pulled in the same pocket. I say it was illegal since the shot was intended for the 7 ball to enter and my brother
says it doesn't matter. which is the legal shot? Thanks, Denise

Are you saying that both the 5 and 7 made it into the same pocket? Your wording is a little odd. Under BCA rules, you never need to indicate combination shots. As long as the ball you called goes into the pocket you called and you made a legal shot, it doesn't matter how it got there. If the 7 ball bounced around 6 cushions and still made it in the pocket that you designated, it counts. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.All that matters is ball and pocket. How the balls get into the pocket doesn't generally matter (unless there is a a foul from other means).

Yes you are correct and your brother is wrong. If it was called the 5, 7 combo, then the seven has to fall first and actually doesn't even matter if the 5 is pocketed at all. The first ball called just has to be hit first.More Questions & Answers...
