Why will pool game not open?

play someone that has a rating similar to you ...if you have a good rate and lose to a chump they take more points ..if you beat a chump you only get a few but losing to a chump can cost you big points ..and by a chump I mean someone with a much lower rate than you ...

What tempturre must i keep a slate top pool tabe?

Without using a mathematical explanation... this is the best I can do.

If everyone plays 10 games, and one wins 10, one wins 0, and the others are scattered in between, the ten wins would get the rating of 100, 0 of 0 and so on. If 100 plays 0, he is expected to win, and thus does not get rewarded with a high number of points (perhaps only 4). The 0 player does not get penalized, because he was expected to lose. So he only loses 4 and is at -4 while you were at 104. Say you wanted a rematch, however, and this time, he wins (maybe you pocketed the 8-ball too soon). Now, since he is -4 and you are 104, by the ratings you are supposed to be far superior to him and they are going to punish you/reward him with a lot of points. Now you're down to 81 and he's up to 19. should you rematch again and you beat him, you'd get 6 points (perhaps) instead of 4 because his rank is higher and yours is lower (than previously).

basically, it's all about distance between ratings. if a 1500 goes up against a 1200 and wins, it's not a surpise and therefore, not rewarded.

Is Selby-Murphy the best Snooker game ever?

the further the point spread is between the players the more points are taken from the stronger one. start playing people around ur own score and u wont lose so bad.

When playing a cue-ball foul only game of 8-Ball billiards, and you scratch, what does the rule say?

The answer is simple , you are too good for the player that you are playing. your rating are way higher then theirs. As most advise from others, play someone thats around your rating so u will lose and gain about the same points.
