Find a grip on the stick you are comfortable with. Most use the stick across the top of the hand with the thumb up, I use the index finger wrapped around while resting on the thumb. Take your time on the shot, don't worry about making your opponent wait. You want to get a good aim and not rush. Rushing shots can cause you to miss easy ones. Keep your stick low to the table for better aim, don't angle the back of it up too high. Follow through on your shot, don't tap and pull back. I see too many new players pull back ending with their stick up in the air. Play defensively when the situation calls for it, if you don't have a good shot leave your opponent with a tough one. Well, I would give you advice but I have only played once and I sucked! Its much harder than it looks.
