How can i become a better swimmer?

Cup your hands and push slightly downward as you move your hands back and forth. As for the kick, a simple flutter kick is sufficient for most people. If it doesn't work for you then try a scissor kick or egg beater kick. An egg beater is the whip kick with alternating legs. If you aren't familiar with these kicks ask a lifeguard to show you if the pool isn't busy.

For girls only??

Kick your feet like a mixer; alternating directions and alternating techniques (sometimes a whip kick or scissor kick works well).

Fin your arms out, sculling the water from elbow down.

Also, one of the best ways to help stay afloat is to angle your head back, so that the backs of your ears are touching the water. Keep your chest "puffed" with air.

Underwater swimming and asthma?

breathe deeply, keep your lungs as full as possible, that will give you a little more buoyancy. when you move your arms and legs, make long, slow movements.

The more time you spend in the water, the better you will get, both swimming and treading water.

Where can i get a swimming patch for my varsity jacket?

1 Shed bulky clothing
2 shape hands flat, like spear hands.
3 at a slight angle downward, move arms back and forth, feeling the lift from the air foil system created by your hands.
4 Relaxing the ankles and feet, scissor kick so you are pushed upward.

Floating may be more viable if you have a decent boyuancy.
Keeping your spine straight, lay back and fill your lungs with air, when breathing, cycle ~15-25% of the air in your lungs at a time, keeping them mostly filled throughout. The frequency of breathing will increase.

When your treading, keeping a set amount (about 75% or more) of your lungs filled with air will help you immensley.

Please Answer I Need Help!!?

When I was a child I learned to tread water by "cheating" I was supposed to only go as far out as I could walk so I kept walking except my feet were no longer touching bottom. That is basicly all treding water is just allowing your body to be close to up and down in the water and moving your feet. You do not have to kick hard or fast in fact the least motion you can make and keep at least your nose out of the water the better because you want to use as little energy as possible.

Floating is basicly lying down in the water. You don't need to keep your whole body up just enough to breathe.

Both floating and treding water are intended to be relaxed ways to use as little energy as possible to be able to keep your nose and mouth out of water at least as much as they are underwater,. Play around in the water. Get used to it, get a couple of mouths full and don't swallow any more than you have to. The more relaxed and less scarred you are the better you'll do. Also the fatter you are the better you float because fat is lighter than water. So is air so full lungs and an empty head work very well, :)

Nessler Reagent?

First of all .. you can tread water in shallow water. Get into water just chest high, put your arms out to the side and move them around, then take your feet off the ground. Arms should be going shoulder high from back to front, not up and down.

You will get the hand of it.

Even try holding onto the side of the swimming pool stretching so you legs, back, bum are horizontal, then let go. Your legs will sink but keep up the arm movement and keep practicing.

Maybe it would be a good idea if you get a "life jacket" and have that in the pool or in shallow water. You can't sink in a life jacket, so you can practice your arm and leg movements. Real easy.

Take care . good luck.

Can someone drowned in a shower?

take deep breaths when you tread water. if you're tense, you'll just go under. i personally find it easier to alternate using my arms and my legs more. so maybe for five minutes i'll kick hard and let my arms rest, and then i'll use my arms more and let my legs rest.
