Is it good to take a day off after a taper meet?

Libby Lenton?

After a taper meet it could do you some benefits but practicing the next day could also be beneficial in it's own way.

If you swam, say, a lot of events (ex. the 500 free and 200 IM plus a relay or 2) than taking a day off might be in your best interest. But if you didn't swim many events and didn't really work your muscles that much then taking a day off might further weaken your muscles. Remember that during taper you still need to keep your muscles that you do have so you'll need to do some hard exercise here and there to keep them.

Lastly, a day off after a taper meet could also be good if the meet was one of your last meets of the year such as state trials if you qualified for finals. But then the day after your day off your coach might make you go harder in practice but that can also depend on how prepared your coach thinks you are for the upcoming meets and how well you can swim them and use information gathered while in the race to your advantage.

How can i keep my swim-goggles fog-free?

Your question is a little confusing, so i'll just answer this in as general terms as I can. If you are tapering for a meet and are wondering whether to take the day off before the meet, it varies from person to person, I personally don't really feel very good after a day off, so I usually like to get in and do a little bit, a warm up and then 12 1/2 sprints, this is all your preference though. If you do choose to swim, don't do anything strenuous. After a meet that you tapered for it really doesn't make a difference if you take a day off and get back in the pool, your body is already rested and you won't lose any endurance extra. So, you can take a day off if you want to or you don't have to if you don't feel like it.

SWIMMING - How to float in Water?

my coach has always given us the Monday after a Thursday-Friday-Saturday taper meet off. And she's not even starting spring conditioning until the end of March, and our championship meet was the middle of February. Go ahead... rest a day!

Can you safely wear your contacts underneath today's swim goggles?

I was never allowed to, but it wouldn't hurt you to take one day off.
